Disease Illusion are a modern melodic death metal band from Bologna, Italy, now spread across Italy, Denmark, and England. Formed in 2006, they have spent nearly two decades building their name on live stages across Europe, sharing bills with Dying Fetus, Aborted, Bleed From Within, Beneath the Massacre, Bleeding Through, Dreamshade, Cryptosis, and more. Their sound is rooted in the Gothenburg tradition, drawing on the melodic intricacy of Dark Tranquillity and the raw energy of In Flames, and pushing it forward through metalcore heaviness and progressive dynamics. Crushing riffs, atmospheric layering, and vocals that move between precision and ferocity make for a live show that is as physical as it is deliberate. Lyrically, Disease Illusion don't trade in vague darkness. Their songs name things: ecological collapse, political violence, the apathy we normalise and the resistance we owe. Plastic Ocean (2024), their third full-length, is the clearest expression of that identity yet, nine tracks that move between personal and political without flinching. Disease Illusion are Federico Venturi: Guitars (2006-present) Alessandro Turco: Guitars (2012-present) Alessio Chierici: Drums (2014-present) Joy Lazari: Vocals (2016-present) Giacomo Laurenti: Bass (2023-present)
