The Peripheries

Bologna, Italy | Punk

WHO: Claudio 'Udo' Bianconi (bass), John 'Arnar' Johnson (guitar, keys, voice), Sabina 'Morgana' Morgagni (beats), Carlo 'Wiz' Rossi (voice), Flaminia Samperi (keys), Giorgia 'Z03' Righini (visuals). Music from John Johnson, aka Arnar Arvesson, one-time guitarist and singer with "Cody", who produced three albums with the London label Shinkansen (heir to Sarah Records) and were played by two legendary BBC Radio One DJs, John Peel and Steve Lamacq, and gigged at a number of historic venues of the English indie scene, such as Water Rats and the Camden Falcon in London. Since then he has been a finalist in the MTV Brand New Talent contest and has played for numerous local bands. WHAT: The potent baritone of 'Wiz' meets the primitive beats of the Ravenna artist Sabi, also known as 'Morgana' (Neon Demon, Triceratopo), together with the clean bass of 'Udo' and synths by Flaminia (Slow Nerve), complemented by the crystal clear telecaster of 'Arnar'. WHY: The Peripheries play nostalgia-free New Wave. Accessible tunes with a sprinkling of the alternative scene’s more experimental vibes. Multifaceted influences merge in a repertory packed with infectious earworms as well as emotion-drenched slow burners, songs to make you want to dance, sing and reflect, often at the same time.
